West Virginia University announces a major initiative in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education. We anticipate filling four faculty and one faculty equivalent academic professional positions across campus, including an Eberly Professor of STEM Education to lead the initiative and provide mentorship for more junior faculty. These hires will play a major role in growing the Flexible Education Research Network (FERN), a trans-disciplinary, STEM education initiative identified by the University as one of five areas for ! strategic investment. Over 70 WVU faculty members have outreac! h, research, and funding in STEM education. Each college has designated resources, including current faculty time and these planned new hires to FERN. WVU seeks exceptional individuals who can teach in the area of expertise hired and who can develop and/or maintain active research, teaching and service programs in the following areas:
- Assistant Professor, Agricultural and Extension Education in the Davis College
- Assistant Professor, Engineering Education in the Statler College
- Assistant Professor, STEM Education (Mathematics) in the College of Education and Human Services
Successful candidates must be able to work with faculty across disciplines and make a significant impact on growth of sustained, collaborative, externally-funded research, education and outreach programs to broaden participation in STEM fields and otherwise enhance STEM education at WVU, in West Virginia, or across the nation.
