Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship Required.

Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

DUTIES:

  • Performs analytical, statistical, and evaluative work.
  • Maintains contact with the criminal justice field. Serves as a liaison to criminal justice and other authorities concerning program or research efforts pertinent to the survey being conducted. Participates in conferences and makes presentations as necessary.
  • Collects background material and performs research for use in written documents or surveys. Prepares drafts of analytical narrative texts.
  • Solves problems by choosing from a variety of mathematical and statistical techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Qualifications for the GS 11: Applicant must possess one year of Specialized Experience (SE) equivalent to the GS 9 grade level. SE is as follows:

  • Orally communicated to maintain effective liaison with the criminal justice field; participated in conferences.
  • Prepared written reports using documents or surveys.
  • Analyzed statistical work to solve statistical, analytical problems using data or surveys.

Basic Requirements:
All applicants must have completed a degree that includes 15 semester hours in statistics or in math (at least 6 hours must be in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering or social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.

OR

All applicants must have a combination of education and experience - courses as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis variance, and tests of significance.

In addition to meeting the occupational requirements for this series, all applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience (SE) related to the work of the position and equivalent to the GS 9 level.

Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. This policy does not apply to probationary employees. Probationary employees are generally precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until their 12-month probationary period has concluded.

Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from Legat assignment.
