Reporting Relationship: Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Resource Coordinator works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families ser ved by the National Youth Advocate Program. This position is responsible for conducting public relation activities regarding the Foster Care Program while assisting in maintaining current foster parent licenses and licensing new foster parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Community Resource Coordinator will perform duties including, but not limited to:
  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
  • Conduct public relations activities through the media, publications, and other initiatives outlined by the state/regional recruitment plan.
  • Work with reporting supervisor to produce Foster Parent Recruitment flyers, advertisements, and information brochures.
  • Work directly with community leaders in fostering the NYAP mission.
  • Work directly with potential foster parents to meet state pre-service training requirements.
  • Assist potential foster parents in completing all necessary paperwork to becoming a NYAP foster parent.
  • Work to ensure existing foster parents remain current on certifications and assist in the re-certification process.
  • Serve as a trainer and resources coordinator to foster parents seeking training opportunities.
  • Develop respite homes to be used for temporary relief for the youth.
  • Develop and implement on going foster home recruitment plans and submit monthly progress reports.
  • Develop a regional recruitment committee to assist in foster home recruitment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or other related human service field
  • 2 years’ experience in youth services, preferably in foster care recruitment and/or child welfare
OTHER SKILLS:
    Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must be knowledgeable of foster care rules and regulations
  • Experience working with youth in out-of-home care.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Must be open and willing to travel as needed.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photo copiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
