Location: Parkersburg West Virginia

Description: Internal Revenue Service is looking of CASE ADVOCATE right now, this position will be placed in West Virginia. More details about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. DUTIES

As a case advocate you will:
Assist taxpayers on a wide-range of IRS issues by advocating for them within the IRS.

Manage an inventory of cases by taking timely actions.
Research complex tax law and properly adjust taxpayers' accounts, as well as interact through a variety of methods including face-to-face, telephonic and in writing.

Educate taxpayers by presenting information to a variety of groups and individuals.

Identify trends or burdens impacting taxpayers and make recommendations for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS/ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS : You must meet the following eligibility and basic qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
GS- 5 LEVEL:
A. Four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree OR

B. Three (3) years of general experience, one (1) year of which was equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal government that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; commu! nicate effectively orally and in writing. Such experience may ! have been gained in government, business or industry, investigative work, banking, law, accounting, or other work appropriate to the position to be filled. OR

C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

GS-7 LEVEL:
A. Superior Academic Achievement - A Bachelors degree, with one of the following: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last 2 years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR

B. One (1) full year of graduate education in a field of study such as: accounting, finance, taxation, business administration or other related fields. OR
C. At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal Government that demonstrated a knowledge of business practices, basic accounting principles, and Federal tax laws and regulations; and that required the ability to audit tax records, analyze systems and bookkeeping, use fact-finding techniques, and develop interpersonal skills. OR

D. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

GS-9 LEVEL:
A. Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study in an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, taxation, business administration or other related fields. OR

B. Two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in accounting, finance, taxation, business administration. OR

C. LL.B. or J.D., if related to an accounting, finance, taxation, business administration or other related fields. OR

D. At least one (1! ) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Fe! deral Government. Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in work such as:

  • Office auditing of various types of tax returns to determine tax liability of individual tax payers, businesses, or corporations.
  • Conducting comprehensive analytical evaluations
  • Using creative in-office factfinding techniques, and
  • Using effective public contact skills. OR
E. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
