Management is filling the Pipeline Engineer opening for the Charleston, WV area. This opening is posted at the Senior level, however, management is willing to consider filling at at lower level in the Engineering Job Family.
Responsibilities
The Pipeline Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in the field of pipeline engineering, operations technical support, and pipeline integrity management. The Pipeline Eng! ineer will perform various engineering analysis and consulting! activities as well as develop and maintain engineering standards and procedures. The Pipeline Engineer will work within a cross functional team of subject matter experts on various engineering and technical support initiatives and programs for Columbia Pipeline Group. The Pipeline Engineer will support Operations Teams to identify and address reliability and maintenance issues, and will provide technical support in areas including pipeline design and maintenance, equipment design and maintenance, regulatory compliance, erosion control, leak detection and corrosion control.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Pipeline Engineer supports Operations and Projects for Columbia Pipeline Group (CPG) interstate natural gas transmission system, including:
Primary point of contact for technical services support to regional Operations personnel on maintenance projects, including QA/QC for life-of-facility documentation. Documentation includes facility maintenance reports and hydro! static testing plans,
Approves pipeline repairs (RSTRENG, dent strain analysis, sleeves, leak repairs, composite reinforcements),
Performs Class Location change studies,
Reviews and approves third party project plans, including seismic, blasting, load bearing, mining subsidence, and pipeline relocation requirements,
Supports Operations personnel with State PUC & PHMSA audits (49 CFR 192),
Collaborates within Engineering and Operations on strategic issues affecting pipelines,
Develops regional scopes of work aligned with strategic Capex initiatives,
Supports project managers to define, execute, and deliver project scopes,
Participates in industry events (PRCI, INGAA, SGA),
Maintains assigned policy, plan, and procedures with current industry standards.

The Pipeline Engineer maintains a high level of focus on health, safety and environment, ensuring safety within all activities.Participate in industry initiatives, including researc! h and technology development related to pipeline engineering and extrac! t value from industry initiatives for incorporation into CPG programs
Support operational integrity and regulatory compliance through development and maintenance of pipeline design, maintenance and construction standards, procedures and specifications.
Perform a variety of engineering analyses on complex technical issues
Develop and maintain engineering standards, materials specifications and construction design documents, while supporting safe work practices, industry best practices and CPG Program requirements
Provide training and engineering support to other technical employees, engineers and Operations staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
Provide expertise, technical support, and training in technical areas such as Corrosion Control, Equipment Maintenance, Failure Investigation, Risk Management, Welding, Metallurgy, Pipe Design, Pipeline Construction and Pipeline Operations and Maintenance.
Develop project ! scopes and estimates and serve as the technical lead for various construction and maintenance projects.
Perform studies for increasing pipeline pressures, assessing pipeline reliability and for developing strategies to mitigate threats to pipeline integrity.

Selection Criteria

The following criterion has been developed to aid engineers and their management in the determination of job classification for new hires and advancement.
ASSOCIATE ENGINEER - CPG
College graduate with a four-year BS Degree in Engineering is required.
A four-year BS Degree in Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited) will be considered.

Investigates/analyzes assigned technical issues.
Assists other engineers, project teams and management by developing, compiling, and providing technical data.
Applies engineering principles and scientific theory. Recommends sound solutions.
Develops an understanding of applicable engineering principles, codes, regul! ations, policies and procedures related to a functional area within the! company..
Contributes to the development of budgets by scoping, estimating and recommending projects.
Demonstrates ability to work with internal customers.
Demonstrates ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and specifications.

ENGINEER - CPG Includes Associate Engineer selection criteria/qualifications plus:

Ranging from 1-5+ years of demonstrated engineering competency.
Investigates and applies diverse engineering principles to determine optimal and practical solutions.
Effectively works independently and as a member of a team.
Effectively manages and completes multiple smaller scale projects concurrently and timely.
Prepares studies and makes sound recommendations.
Provides sound technical expertise.

Communicates with ! peer technical customer representatives to identify problems and possible solutions.
Maintains ongoing positive presence with customers, other stakeholders and outside entities (i.e. Producers, Pipelines, LDCs, vendors, etc.) through professional communications; able to handle and resolve situations with all parties.
Applies formal planning techniques for major projects.
Demonstrates ability to develop engineering standards, specifications, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Recognizes and actively seeks value added improvements.
Addresses all resources when planning projects (including technical and non-technical aspects when analyzing work).

SENIOR ENGINEER - CPG Includes Engineer selection criteria/qualifications plus:

Minimum 5 years of experience - less will be considered if distinguished performance has been demonstrated.
Effectively contributes as a member and/or leader of a team.
Demonstrates ability to effectively imp! lement investigative and problem solving techniques.
Investigates/an! alyzes complex technical issues and drives to resolution.
Interprets applicable codes and regulations and instructs Company and/or Industry personnel.
