Survey Technician / Crew Chief
Location: Bridgeport West Virginia
Description: Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is currently seeking to employ Survey Technician / Crew Chief right now, this job will be placed in West Virginia. More details about this job opportunity please read the description below. As a CEC Survey Technician III, you will perform survey work relating to topography, boundary, and construction staking. You will be leading two or three! man survey crews under the direction of a Registered Professional Surveyors. You will perform routine professional land survey work using accepted surveying practices and equipment. You'll operate various modern instruments, clear brush, drive stakes, hold chains or rods, take detailed notes, and make sketches. You will be responsible for utilizing various data collection programs to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and performing minor computations as required. The position will entail travel within West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio areas. You will perform survey work for commercial, institutional, solid waste, and energy clients.
Required Qualifications
5-8 years' survey crew chief experience;
Skilled in the use of GPS devices, survey and drafting technologies, data collectors and/or Total Station;
Work requires independent judgment and initiative;
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of land! surveying;
Knowledge of the principles, practices an! d instruments used in computer aided drafting;
Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications, plans and regulations related to construction;
Ability to operate motorized equipment;
Ability to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, heat, cold, and other adverse conditions;
Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Trimble & Topcon GPS and Total Stations, Trimble, Recon/Nomad Data collectors and TDS Surveypro, Trimble Access software, experience with VRS;
Associates or Bachelors in Survey Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, or other related field preferred;
Experience working on Abandoned Mine Land projects, Natural Gas Pipeline projects & Transportation Projects;
Experience with Pipeline As-Built Surveys including; pipe tally reports, weld location;
Experience with AutoCAD/Carlson! Survey Software.
