POSITION PURPOSE:

To coordinate, control and expedite the recording, classifying, summarizing and analyzation of accounting data. Also, to motivate those persons performing these various tasks to excellent performance. The Accounting Office Supervisor is directly responsible for training, supervising, and counseling the A/R clerk, A/P clerk, I/J clerk and General Cashier. At all times, the accounting office share the responsibility for the completion of the duties assigned to his/her subordinates. He/she may, from time to time, be called upon to perform their duties.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coach and counsel all subordinates in the carrying out of their responsibilities.
- Review subordinates at their scheduled review dates, with honesty and fairness.
- Maintain current position description for each subordinate.
- Perform other special tasks at the request of the Controller.
- Assist in the preparation of projections and budgets.
- Assist in the taking of physical inventories (food, beverage, china, glass, silver, linen, gift shop).
- Audit General Cashier’s safe once a week, Front Office and restaurant banks once each period.
- Review petty cash disbursements and accounts payable invoices for discrepancies in coding or deviations from S.O.P., and approve for payment.
- Coordinate payroll audit twice a year.
- Consult with Night Auditor on any problems that result in the loss of revenue for the hotel, i.e., late restaurant charges, incorrect credit procedure, illegible room charges.
- Develop hotel credit procedures in line with the policies stated in the HEI Accounting Manual in relation to the needs of the BWI Marriott.
