We have an excellent opportunity for a fearless Senior Sales/Fundraising Metro Director to head up our Charleston, WV office to raise funds and lead the implementation of events and provide leadership support to staff.

  • Accountable for managing and overseeing the aggressive corporate sponsorship and fundraising goals for the market.
  • Leads the planning, organizing, training, developing, implementing, directing, and evaluating of events for specific revenue generation, educational and communications activities and be passionate about the AHA cause.
  • Adheres to AHA established best practices for events including timelines for activities and ! fundraising objectives, coaches and guides staff on processes ! and procedures including periodic evaluation of progress. Thrives in a competitive environment.
  • Directs and oversees the recruitment, training, development and maintenance of a community based volunteer committee including two non-governing boards in Wilmington and S. Delaware
  • Must be team oriented and have outstanding customer service and presentation skills.
  • Provides leadership to market staff on events, daily activities, performance evaluations, goal setting and professional development
As part of the American Heart Association’s efforts to recruit and retain diverse staff and volunteers, the Metro Executive Director will lead the effort for targeted outreach to position the association as a trusted partner in the community with business leaders. Work to increase diversity of volunteer boards and committees in the affiliate.

The successful candidate will have the ability to train, manage, guide, and motivate staff and volu! nteers to achieve objectives; the ability to set aggressive goals with clients and staff; the ability to plan and work independently; the ability to travel up to 75% of the time in the market, and 25% overnight travel, and work flexible hours. Also the ability to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required Skills

  • Superior organizational and interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must have at basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2007 used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in a management ! capacity. This experience may occur within the 4 year related experienc! e requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on AHA projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
Must be at least 18 years old
