This class is for adults 18+ with a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and Social Security Card.

Qualifications

An emotionally mature, dependable individual who exhibits good judgement capable of adhering to classrom policies and procedures High School Diploma or G.E.D. 18+ years of age Possess an original Social Security Card On the first day of class, students will be fingerprinted for a criminal background check. Our Long-Term Care facility must follow state regulations. Please discuss any issues during your personal interview.

Additional Information

A Certified Nursing Assistant...
Must be emotionally mature, dependable, and exhibit good judgment. Must be in good physical health and personal hygiene. Must be respectful, ! courteous, and co-operative. Must be empathetic, patient, and ! trustworthy. Must be able to perform functions and procedures relating to the personal hygiene, safety, comfort, nutrition, exercise and elimination needs of the resident. Must have the ability to lift a 150-pound resident with the aide of another Nursing Assistant. Must be able to safely assist residents in all activities of daily living and other personal care needs. Must be able to ensure resident privacy, respect, and dignity at all times. Must provide emotional/psychological support and comfort to the residents Must perform proper infection control procedures in the execution of all duties/tasks. Must detect, correct and/or report to the charge nurse any unsafe conditions Must execute duties and responsibilities in conformance with established routines Must be able to work well with others and take direction and guidance from professional staff. Must maintain the confidentiality of all resident information Must demonstrate a co-operative and positive attitude in dealin! g with co-workers and residents Must exhibit loyalty to this nursing facility in work and action throughout employment
Major Job Duties/Functions

1. Communicate with the charge nurse regarding daily assignments.
2. Communicate with the residents and be attentive to their individualized needs.
3. Safely perform or assist residents with daily hygiene needs, including bathing, dressing, undressing, oral hygiene, denture care, backrubs, skin care, hair care, nail care, shaving, toileting, incontinent care.
4. Bed making, placing residents belongings away properly. Ensuring rooms are neat, clean, and orderly. Disposing of waste in accordance with policy.
5. Obtaining and serving meal trays and feeding residents.
6. Passing water and linen using aseptic technique.
7. Recording intake and output as directed
8. Making scheduled rounds to toilet residents and/or provide incontinent care, change residents clothing and linens as needed, provide! perineal and skin care, position residents in good body alignment with! proper supports.
9. Administer S/As, enemas, whirlpools, as directed, and according to proper procedures.
10. Chart resident information accurately, including ADLs, meal consumption, vital signs, enema results, and bowel movements on the appropriate forms.
11. Measure and record residents height and weight as directed.
12. Respond to resident calls immediately.
13. Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents.
13. Clean used equipment according to proper procedure and return to proper storage area after using.
14. Check residents frequently and before going off duty, ensuring their safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
15. Apply restraints properly and care for the restrained resident in accordance with policy.
16. Collect specimens as directed.
17. Post-mortem care as directed.
18. Must possess the physical ability to properly execute the safe and proper techniques using good body mechanics to turn and position, ! reposition, transfer, lift and ambulate residents.
19. Co-operate with inter-disciplinary personnel, and in conjunction with the residents individual care plan in planning and providing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual care.
20. Able to safely and properly perform all skills listed on the Certified Nursing Assistant skills checklist and specific floor routines.
