GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs Field Machining services in a variety of settings at client work sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work independently and assists other technicians in the field while performing company work.
• Continues to learn and gains experience in the duties of a Hot Tap Technician during daily field work and training sessions.
• Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Pipe Cutting and Beveling
• Flange Re-facing
• Milling motor or pump bases
• Line Boring
• Key-way Cutting
• Shaft turning
• Pipe Isolation and line testing
• Drilling and tapping
• Electronic bolt disintegrator
• Laser or optical alignment equipment
• Identifies circumstances that necessitate the use of proper safety procedures and equipment.
• Properly uses and completes customer and company job related forms and paperwork.
• Properly uses, cares for and maintains company tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Communicates and deals with customers and other parties in such a manner as to benefit the professional reputation of the company.
• Completes all required training, including tests, within Company guidelines.
• Is or becomes familiar with all Company products and services that are available to our customers.
• Learns and abides by Company policies and procedures.

NON ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs other related field, maintenance or shop duties as assigned by supervision.

JOB STANDARDS

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent, technical school or college credits preferred.
• T rade School Degree in an industrially related field or a similar Associate’s Degree preferred
• Three (3) or more years’ experience as a Field Machinist in an Industrial setting required
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
• Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.
• Knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work preferred.
• Able to follow precise directions and procedures of the supervisor on the project.
• Must be able to communicate technical and non technical jargon to customers, supervisor and co-workers.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• HAZWOPER training certificate preferred .

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
• Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
• Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties.
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively;
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
• Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
