The Times West Virginian , the seven-time West Virginia Press Association Newspaper of the Year in Fairmont, W.Va., has an immediate opening for ! a full-time copy editor/features writer. Job responsibilities will include copy editing and layout and design of daily newspapers, special sections and other projects, as well as regular feature writing for lifestyle pages and magazine.
The position will require some evening and weekend shifts.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of grammar, AP Style and layout and design for a daily newspaper, as well as be able to generate ideas and write stories of high reader interest. Candidate must have strong news judgement, be able to meet deadlines and bring a sense of leadership to the newsroom team. Candidate should have journalism background with a degree in journalism or a related field. Experience is required.
Benefits include paid vacation, health and dental insurance and 401(k). Salary is based on experience.
Candidates should be from North Central West Virginia or willing to relocate.
