International Trade Specialist - Import (ITC)

In 2012, UTC Aerospace Systems was formed by combining two industry leaders, Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich, creating an organization with key positions on a wide range of aircraft flying today and substantial content on various UAVs, satellites and ground and naval vehicles.
Responsible for the international trade compliance import function. Interprets, executes and establishes international trade policies and processes. Participates in establishing and administering SBU-wide initiatives. Provides technical guidance to the organization. May manage the international trade activities at multiple facilities.
Provides import regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas:
- Prepares Export License or Agreement applications. Interfaces with SBU and Corporate International Trade Management to support license applications. May interact with US government agencies.
- Audits to assess the export/import compliance of company and supporting operating entities.
- Investigations regarding possible violations and recommendations for voluntary disclosures.
- Management of classification determination of products.
- Implementation of corrective actions.
- Interaction with! Customs Brokers and/or freight forwarders to ensure that export documentation, AES and other import activities are properly executed.
- Improvement of company policies and procedures.
- Leads or facilitates projects as needed.
- Training of SBU employees on export/import compliance.
- Establishment and effective utilization of metrics to drive improvement. Reports metrics as needed to management within the SBU and Corporate.
Bachelor's degree required.
- Must be US Citizen.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Must possess extensive knowledge of international trade.
- Ability to become empowered official.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, US Customs, other laws and regulations governing international trade.
- Understanding and awareness of foreign laws and regulations.
- Ability to ef! fectively interact with multiple levels of personnel including senior m! anagement and government agencies.
- Is able to prioritize in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment; must be able to quickly synthesize technical and program information and apply regulatory requirements.
- Must exercise excellent judgment and make decisions based on clear understanding of the regulations.
- Must be able to project authority necessary to achieve compliance.
- Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
