Project The LAUSD is currently recruiting qualified individuals for Office

Technician positions to fill various vacancies throughout the District.

Individuals selected for this position will perform variety of clerical and/or

support duties at schools and offices.

System (CalPERS).

Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation to start. Three weeks after five

years of year-round paid service.

NOTE: Positions in this job classification may be offered on an 11 month

basis - salary and paid time off for 11 month positions will be adjusted

accordingly.

Job Duties/Responsibilities OFFICE TECHNICIAN

Under immediate supervision, an Office Technician performs a variety of

clerical duties of a routine and recurring nature.

Typical duties include:

  • Preparing a variety of letters, memos, forms, reports, arithmetical

summaries, and other material, typically using computer software.

  • Compiling, interpreting, and coding data from various sources; entering

data utilizing computer systems and programs for functions such as

procurement, finance, student attendance, and personnel; and preparing

related reports.

  • Checking forms and records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintaining files, records, and other information.
  • Responding to employee/public inquiries by telephone and in person to

provide or request information.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION

Graduation from High School or evidence of equivalent educational

proficiency.

SPECIAL

All employees are subject to fingerprinting and a review of conviction

records. Appointment to a position in the School Police Department,

Early Education Centers, and the Certificated/Classified Employee

Processing Unit is subject to additional fingerprinting, a more extensive

review of conviction records, and/or a background investigation.

SPECIAL NOTE

Completion of District sponsored training in the Payroll, Human

Resources, Finance, and Student Information Systems should be

completed by the end of the probationary period.

All employees must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and must be able to

provide verification of their vaccination status as part of the hiring and

onboarding process prior to an official offer of employment to any District

site; this includes current employees who are being promoted to a new

job class.


Employment Selection Process The employment selection process for Office Technician consists of a

computerized performance assessment, computerized data entry test

and a scored questionnaire.

TESTING PROCESS:

The computer based assessment is a common assessment for several

classification within the SOS clerical series. Therefore, if you have

applied and recently tested for this position and/or other clerical positions

and have not met the 30 days re-take policy, you may not be able to

re-test. We will certify your prior scores. Even if you take the test, the

scores will be invalid.

The computerized performance assessment (Skill Check) will assess

your proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and computerized

data entry skills.

You will be invited to take these assessments online and testing will be

conducted remotely and all applications will be required to submit a

Candidate Confidentiality Form prior to testing. Failure to submit these

forms before the given deadline will result in the withdrawal of your

application from the selection process.

Your test scores from these assessments will be banked and used for

final calculation.

You must receive PASSING SCORES on all TEST MODULES, for all the

assessments, to remain in the selection process.

Candidates who receive a failing score on any test module will NOT be

eligible to move forward in the selection process.

Note: if you have existing scores for this assessment that are less than a

year old, at the time of final scoring, those scores are valid as well and

could be applied as your final score if they are higher.

The scored questionnaire, which you will be completing as part of the

application process, will be worth 100% of a candidate's overall score

and will be used to rank order candidates on the resulting eligibility list.

Therefore, when completing the questionnaire, please make sure you

provide detailed responses to all the questions/statements.

If you are successful on all the assessments and meet the minimum

education requirement, you will be added to the eligibility list provided

you submit the High School diploma when requested during the

recruitment process.
